Chat Settings

Your Chat Settings allow you to completely customize your CAM4 chatroom experience. You decide who will be able to chat during your shows and when, you can turn your chat filters on, or off as you please. Feel like some extra privacy? Start a password protected room where you control who can enter.

In the top right had corner of your broadcast window you will see a little Gear icon gear icon where you can access your chat settings.

Pro Tip’s for performers on how to use your Chat Settings:

1.  Use your chat filters to clean up an overload of unwanted messages while you are actually doing a show. This will allow your friends, favorites, and tippers to chat to you instead of a million ‘feeetttt bb. plzzzzzzzz’ messages.

2. Another clever idea is to announce that you’re turning on your ‘Allow users with tokens’ filter to your room mid-way through the show. Simply say “Hey guys! I’m turning off my free chat now! You can still watch for free but if you want to chat you must have tokens in your account! You don’t have to tip me but you have to have tokens to talk bb’s!” Saying it this way takes pressure off token holders to tip…but the enjoyable feeling of this VIP environment will more than likely make them want to thank you with a tip. ?

When you click on  ‘Moderation’, this drop-down menu will appear:

Manage your Bans – Click here if you would like to un-ban someone from your room, or see who is currently banned from your room.

Manage your Silences – Click here if you would like to lift a silence from a member in your current broadcast.

Manage your Moderators- Remove moderator privileges from a viewer even if they are not currently in your room.

Manage your password protected shows – To begin a password protected show, click ‘Go Private’.

To end a password protected show, simply press ‘Go Public’ to return to an open room.

Camming Do’s and Don’ts (Video)

Here is a quick guide of what you are and are not allowed to do while broadcasting on CAM4.

CAM4 is the most accepting, open camming community online: almost anything goes, as long as it is legal and doesn’t harm yourself or others. Here’s a cheat sheet you can reference if you aren’t sure of what’s allowed!

What am I allowed to do on cam?
  • Masturbate
  • Be naked
  • Accept private shows
  • Have guests (if they have uploaded ID and 2257)
  • Be in public
  • Use sex toys/objects for pleasure
  • Hang out and chat
  • Advertise your personal blog
  • Sell merchandise
  • Play games/raffles/contests
  • Squirt shows
  • BDSM shows
  • Pee on cam
  • Drink pee
  • Role-play shows
  • Wear uniforms/costumes
  • Do shows with other CAM4 broadcasters
What am I NOT allowed to do on cam?
  • Be under the age of 18 or have anyone under the age of 18 on cam with you
  • Have animals on cam or use them in a show with you
  • Operate heavy machinery – This includes driving a car, bus, van, motorcycle, mope-head, scooter, tractor, or any other sort of movable vehicle.
  • Advertise another competitor site
  • Accept paypal or other 3rd party payments
  • No unapproved people on cam
  • No siblings/relatives
  • No self harm or harming others
  • No illegal drug use
  • No blood
  • No poo
  • No vomit
  • No weapons
  • No hate speech
  • No sleeping on cam

*Failure to comply with these rules will result in CAM4 Admin stopping your broadcast and taking necessary actions up to (or including) banning your account.

Common Questions In Chat (Video)

By pressing ‘Broadcast’ on the CAM4 homepage, you are creating your very own show where people can chat live with you. While there is always the element of surprise, I have made this guide to prepare you for the questions people will ask you in your chat room on CAM4.

alisya_jane PTR

Requests for private shows.
As a new broadcaster, it feels great when your viewers want to take you into a private chat and they are a lot of fun to do. Its a great way to get 1 on 1 time with a viewer and turn them into a long time fan.

These are the types of show requests you can expect:

CAM4 private show
-You make tokens per min
-You set your own rate per min under the ‘settings’ button in your broadcast window
-Default rate is 24 tokens per min/6 tokens per min for spy viewers
-You can choose to allow spy viewers
-Spy viewers can only see you, no audio and they can not chat.
-Cam2cam option where you can both see and hear your viewer while in private. (Spy’s cannot see or hear your cam2cam viewer)
-Viewers can tip you if they like
-You get site support
-You keep your place on the homepage.

CAM4 group show
-You sell tickets during your public show
-You set the price, length of show, and number of tickets you want to sell
-You set your timer for ticket sales (You have max 30min to sell tickets to your show)
-The show starts when all tickets are sold
-If the timer runs out before you sell all your tickets you still have the option to do the show. If you decide NOT to do the group show, ticket sale tokens are returned to the viewers
-Viewers can tip you during the show if they like
-You get site support
-You keep your place on the homepage.

Off-site private shows
-You lose your place on the homepage
-No site support
-Chance of fraud increases
-Could have your Skype account banned if you are caught doing a private show.

Option:

Instead of going to another site to do a private show, you can use the password protected room feature to sell blocks of time to this viewer. That way you can still offer viewers a deal, have the privacy of a true private room,    and you don’t have to leave the protection of CAM4!

spanish-star-PTR

Dozens of private messages.
Viewers love sending performers private messages when they are in public chat. It’s exciting to have a private conversation with you while you have hundreds of viewers watching.

Option:

If this becomes overwhelming simply say to your viewers that you are not taking PM’s (private messages) right now. Politely smile and tell them to chat in your public room. “Guys! The more I type the less I can perform!” That usually works.

4-service-boy-PTR

“Do you need me to be your moderator?”
These viewers may only be trying to help, but I recommend waiting till you get to know a viewer a bit before you make them your “Mod”.  Moderators have the ability to Kick, Silence, Ignore, or Ban anyone in your room, so you want to pick someone with your best interests at heart.

Option:

After a few shows you will get to know your viewers a bit. You should be the one who approaches a viewer about being your “Mod”, not the other way around.

ass-alert3-PTR

Do you take PayPal bb?
This one is a no-no. PayPal gives your full real name when you do a transaction and that is just not safe. You will be banned for advertising or accepting any forms of 3rd party payment.

Option:

Viewers have the option of using PayPal when buying tokens, the option is right on the payment menu.

amalia_foryo-PTR

Millions of requests bb….
Some of these will be in the form of a question and some will be just words over and over. Whatever they are just remember every person in your chat room counts towards your total viewers and that moves you up the homepage.

Options:

Put a list of things you will do in your broadcast window text box, this wont stop them from requesting but at least the ones that are serious will know how to get their wish granted.

Keep it light and politely say “Oh looks like someone wants to take me private.” or “You first!”. The more you keep things light and fun the better.

annekenecro-PTR

What do you do in your shows/private shows?”
This is a common question you will get from viewers who want to get to know you better. It is best to have a general idea of where your boundaries are so you don’t get put on the spot.

Option:

On your CAM4 profile there is a section where you fill out your bio, this is the perfect place to talk about what your fans can expect during your shows. If you are not comfortable doing something state it here and stick to it.

asus10-ptr

“What outfits/costumes/toys do you have bb?”
Lots of your viewers get turned on at the sight of your toys and sexy things you have to wear.

Option:

The best way to show your collection is to take pictures of all your outfits/toys for your CAM4 photo gallery that viewers can browse through. You can even create fun names for your outfits/toys.

bella-juliax-cam4

Tokens! Compliments! and More….
Your viewers will shower you with kind words and tips to show their appreciation. Make sure you show your appreciation back with a smile and a simple thank you.

How to Turn Any Show Into Art (Video)

The more you focus on making your shows fun and creative, the more viewers you are going to attract.

Remember these simple rules when you start your CAM4 show.

#1. Be Patient.

Role-playing a new theme during your broadcasts? You should plan to do it for a week or more before you decide if it is worth continuing or not.

#2. Perform for 10 viewers as you would 1000.

You never know who is watching you. There might be the most loyal, awesome viewers in your room but if you are visibly upset about your numbers it can be insulting.

#3. Don’t demand your viewers talk to you.

They are not all masters of conversation and talking to a hottie like yourself may be intimidating.

#4. Use Color in your room.

This is not only eye catching from the CAM4 homepage and will attract people to your room, it will make your viewers more comfortable when they are there.

#5. Have fun props.

You need to have these in your background to decorate your room and peek the interest of your viewers. It is a conversation starter, and the best way for YOU to not get bored on cam.

#6. Be an Internet personality.

CAM4 is all about real people, real cams, in real time. This means that your viewers want to see more than just a body with a toy – they could get that anywhere. Be YOURSELF and share your personality, that is the cornerstone to success.

How to block countries or regions?

All CAM4 broadcasters have the ability to block multiple locations or countries they do not wish to be viewed in. This means while
on CAM4, no one in your blocked locations is able to see you, look you up, or access your chat room from any computer, laptop, tablet, ipad, or mobile phone.

You can change your blocked countries at anytime.

Go to your Broadcaster Dashboard by clicking on your avatar on the right top side of our website. A drop down menu will appear.

Choose ‘Block Regions / Countries’ from your list of account options under ‘Performer Tools’ and choose the countries or regions you would like to block.

Once you save your settings, you are invisible in the  selected area.

To remove a location from your blocked countries, simply click on the bin behind the area or country.

Lighting 101 (Video)

Great lighting is camming 101  – having a poorly lit room can affect the quality of your cam feed and result in an unflattering image. Using accent lights, like red or blue floodlights, will make your cam more noticeable on the homepage, and increase the amount of viewers in your room.

These are the things to consider when lighting your room:

    • What sources of light do I have already?
    •  Do I have enough lighting?
    • Is it flattering?
    • What “color” bulbs do I have in my light sources
    •  Are they all the same type and “color”?
    •  Where do I need to place my lights to get the best effect?

Chances are that you have lights around your home that will be very effective in creating a well-lit room. As much as possible, try NOT to use sunlight – it is inconsistent and may blow your cover if you are hiding your location.

These are some great lamps you can add to your collection if you don’t have what you need already:

beginners-guide-to-webcamming-light

Multi-head lamps are great for adjusting the light exactly where you need them.

lighting-101-multi

This little guy is a great way to maximize your lamps you already have. It converts 1 light socket into 4! Use energy saving bulbs ONLY!

lighting-101-clamp

This disk light is very versatile with its clamp on the back you can use it in any space.

Bulbs

I recommend using a natural white or soft white bulb, they are the best choice when lighting for your cam and will flatter your skin tone.

lighting-101-energy

These A-Line bulbs are great because they are energy saving, low heat, and frosted to give off softer light.

Please make sure all your bulbs are the same color!

Lighting set up

Lighting-101-set-up

*In real life your lights will need to be turned towards your wall in order to get that soft flattering effect you are looking for. The light that reflects back off your walls will be perfect to light your room.

Your lights should never be visible in your cam window. The light will force your cam to make your image dark and no one will see you. It is best to have them behind and to the side of the cam, out of view.

Top 10 Tips for Camming (Video)

Stay 10 steps ahead of the game with this easy to follow guide.

1 – Takeover the CAM4 Instagram accounts!

This is an incredible way to get exposure to new and eager fans 🙂
DM @CAM4 on Twitter with the following info:

  • Your CAM4 username
  • Upcoming dates you would like to check are available
  • For takeovers you will need to include your Instagram handle.

We will reply to you in the DM so make sure you check back with us!

2 – Our brains judge how good something is by the peak of excitement felt during the experience, and the ending.

This would imply that we put more effort on how we END our shows rather than begin it.

To maximize this effect, I recommend:creating a ritual (or tradition) of how you end your show. This could be an article of clothing, a particular action, or closing song/speech you give at the end of your shows. Almost like your signature. This would allow people to have a solid memory they would take away from your shows and talk to others about.

3 – A positive state of mind will attract positive results.

It sounds obvious but being negative is not fun to watch, attitude is a choice and it affects your success.

4 –Guide your viewers eye line.

Use lines of site to draw the eye to the TIP button on your broadcast window. Using simple tricks like positioning a colorful room decoration, or gesturing to the lower left side of your viewers screen is a silent way to ask for tips.

 5 – Connect your twitter to CAM4

We tweet 15 min before your scheduled show, and again 5 min after you have actually started your broadcast. Viewers who subscribe to your CAM4 Calendar will also receive a browser notification they can click on to instantly enter your room.  You can tweet directly from your broadcast window, and it includes the URL link so your Twitter followers are just a click away from you.

 6 – Use Twitter Analytics

Twitter analytics is a powerful tool that lets you see how your fans are engaging with you. You can see where your fan base is, what they are into, how many views your tweets are getting, and what tweets got you the most attention.

You can see more about Twitter Analytics here.

7 – Use the color Red to get attention.

The most attractive color to males is RED; this makes you more desirable to them and taps into their primal sexual instinct.

8 – Play it cool!

Don’t jump all over your big tippers when they come into your room. This may make them feel awkward, insult others in the room, make your tipper feel like an ATM, and possibly open that tipper up to annoying invites to other rooms. Treat them all with respect, you never know what will happen in your room today, a fan might just surprise you and spoil you when they were only silent before.

9 –  Record yourself!

Watching your own show is the best way to improve, if you don’t see what you are doing you will never know what you are doing right. Always ask yourself would I watch me?

10 –  SMILE!

Its amazing how much more inviting your room is when you are smiling. Seeing yourself smile in your broadcast window will keep you and your viewers in a great mood.

Using Twitter Analytics

Being successful means being connected to your fan base, to do this you need to utilize Twitter analytics.

Twitter Analytics

Analytics lets you see every impression, engagement, and engagement rate that is related to your twitter activity. Knowing who your fans are, where they are, and what they like is going to elevate your shows to the next level.

Impression – The number of times your tweet has been seen by Twitter users.

Engagement – The total number of times a user has interacted with a tweet. This includes all clicks anywhere on the tweet (including all hashtags, links, avatar, username, and tweet expansion), retweets, replies, follows, and favorites.

Engagement Rate – The number of engagements (clicks, re-tweets, replies, follows and favorites) divided by the total number of impressions.

Here is where you need to go to get started: https://analytics.twitter.com/about

Tips for using analytics info

Twitter-tweet-dashboard

Tweet Dashboard

  •    Shows you what tweets are getting the most attention
  •    What hashtags are working for you
  •    Pictures that are getting shared and clicked
  •    URL links that are getting attention

Use this to see what content is getting you the most views and edit future tweets to increase your success.

Follower Dashboard

  •    See your follower breakdown by country
  •    Shows you your fan base by what special interests they have (music, modeling, etc.)

Use this info to subtly customize your tweets to the location and interests of your fan base.

Twitter Cards

  •    Allows you to add media (like video) to your tweets and give you better insight as to how your content is being shared
  •    Learn how to improve metrics like URL clicks and retweets

Your followers will LOVE seeing videos of you on twitter and will be more likely to click the URL link you include to take them to your show.

Creating An Awesome Profile

Creating your unique CAM4 profile

First, let’s get all the technical info out of the way so we can move on to the fun creative part.

How you do it:

  1. Design your images using programs like
Pizap, Gimp, Pixlr etc… These are all free program options if you don’t have existing image editing software on your computer.
  2. Upload your finished images to hosting sites like Imgaeshack , some sites like Imgur won’t allow you to post your images to adult sites like CAM4 so that’s why I recommend using Imageshack.
  3. Copy the ‘Direct Image Link’ from Image shack and paste it into the CAM4 profile toolbar seen below, you will find this under ‘Profile Info’ in your Account Options.

4. I recommend making all your images the same width – 700

5. Press Save Changes and you’re done!

Profile design tips

Your profile is a great communication tool that can do some of the talking for you. Follow these simple design guidelines that will allow you to keep your focus on your show, instead of answering the same question over and over while you’re trying to perform.

  1. Have both SFW (Safe for work) and NSFW (Non-safe for work) images on your profile. This way CAM4 can display your SFW profile images to people who have adult content firewalls up on their computer.

  2. Use your CAM4 Calendar to let people know when you’re online.

  3. Use your image gallery like a catalogue to show your viewers what outfits/costumes/toys you have. That way they can flip through it instead of having you drag everything out of your closet. I would even name your images so they can refer to them and you know which images they’re talking about.

4.  Add a price list, but instead of writing 25tkns for titty flash, etc… Use pics to describe what you want! This will increase the chances of viewers reading it

5. And finally, your bio ? Here are a few things you can write about yourself.

-How long have you been performing?
-What do you do in your public shows? Private shows?
-Is there a special way I can show my appreciation to you?
-Do you have any favorite CAM4 gifts you want?
-What are your room rules?
-Social media! Tell them to follow you and what you tweet about!
-What are your favorite things to do on cam? Favorite props? Toys?

You are the star so make it all about you!
