Using Twitter Analytics

Being successful means being connected to your fan base, to do this you need to utilize Twitter analytics.

Twitter Analytics

Analytics lets you see every impression, engagement, and engagement rate that is related to your twitter activity. Knowing who your fans are, where they are, and what they like is going to elevate your shows to the next level.

Impression – The number of times your tweet has been seen by Twitter users.

Engagement – The total number of times a user has interacted with a tweet. This includes all clicks anywhere on the tweet (including all hashtags, links, avatar, username, and tweet expansion), retweets, replies, follows, and favorites.

Engagement Rate – The number of engagements (clicks, re-tweets, replies, follows and favorites) divided by the total number of impressions.

Here is where you need to go to get started: https://analytics.twitter.com/about

Tips for using analytics info

Twitter-tweet-dashboard

Tweet Dashboard

  •    Shows you what tweets are getting the most attention
  •    What hashtags are working for you
  •    Pictures that are getting shared and clicked
  •    URL links that are getting attention

Use this to see what content is getting you the most views and edit future tweets to increase your success.

Follower Dashboard

  •    See your follower breakdown by country
  •    Shows you your fan base by what special interests they have (music, modeling, etc.)

Use this info to subtly customize your tweets to the location and interests of your fan base.

Twitter Cards

  •    Allows you to add media (like video) to your tweets and give you better insight as to how your content is being shared
  •    Learn how to improve metrics like URL clicks and retweets

Your followers will LOVE seeing videos of you on twitter and will be more likely to click the URL link you include to take them to your show.

Creating An Awesome Profile

Creating your unique CAM4 profile

First, let’s get all the technical info out of the way so we can move on to the fun creative part.

How you do it:

  1. Design your images using programs like
Pizap, Gimp, Pixlr etc… These are all free program options if you don’t have existing image editing software on your computer.
  2. Upload your finished images to hosting sites like Imgaeshack , some sites like Imgur won’t allow you to post your images to adult sites like CAM4 so that’s why I recommend using Imageshack.
  3. Copy the ‘Direct Image Link’ from Image shack and paste it into the CAM4 profile toolbar seen below, you will find this under ‘Profile Info’ in your Account Options.

4. I recommend making all your images the same width – 700

5. Press Save Changes and you’re done!

Profile design tips

Your profile is a great communication tool that can do some of the talking for you. Follow these simple design guidelines that will allow you to keep your focus on your show, instead of answering the same question over and over while you’re trying to perform.

  1. Have both SFW (Safe for work) and NSFW (Non-safe for work) images on your profile. This way CAM4 can display your SFW profile images to people who have adult content firewalls up on their computer.

  2. Use your CAM4 Calendar to let people know when you’re online.

  3. Use your image gallery like a catalogue to show your viewers what outfits/costumes/toys you have. That way they can flip through it instead of having you drag everything out of your closet. I would even name your images so they can refer to them and you know which images they’re talking about.

4.  Add a price list, but instead of writing 25tkns for titty flash, etc… Use pics to describe what you want! This will increase the chances of viewers reading it

5. And finally, your bio ? Here are a few things you can write about yourself.

-How long have you been performing?
-What do you do in your public shows? Private shows?
-Is there a special way I can show my appreciation to you?
-Do you have any favorite CAM4 gifts you want?
-What are your room rules?
-Social media! Tell them to follow you and what you tweet about!
-What are your favorite things to do on cam? Favorite props? Toys?

You are the star so make it all about you!

Starter Checklist (Video)

If you’re new to CAM4 or just want to make sure you have the basics, here is what you need to get started.

WEBCAMS

Your computer’s built-in webcam is great for when your are first starting out, but eventually you should get an upgrade. When shopping for a webcam make sure you take your computer into consideration, an HD webcam on an older computer might not be a good match. You can always google the best options for the make and model of your computer.

Here are some webcams that might work for you from Amazon.

INTERNET

www.speedtest.net

Having a smooth stream on CAM4 is all about your Internet upload speed, you need a minimum of 2MBs upload speed to have a clear broadcast image.

To find out what your upload speed is visit:

LIGHTING

beginners-guide-to-webcamming-light

Ring lights are huge right now and and very easy way to get the lighting you need to make great content.

TikTok Stars Are Turning to 24/7 Livestreams for Cash | WIRED

LIGHTING CHECK LIST

Light bulb color should always be  the same.

Add More Light
by pointing some away from you so the light bounces off the wall/floor/ceiling, this creates a soft, flattering light effect.

Light Pollution from your computer monitor can cause your webcam to auto-focus and auto color-correct all the time. Make sure to turn the light down on your monitor.

Suggested lighting kits from Amazon.

MUSIC

Playing music is fun but make sure it isn’t so loud that they cant hear you having fun!

Avoid using your computer as a source, playing music from your computer slows your connection and is very loud to your viewers. You want your music to be background noise, so use your phone or wireless speaker, TV, or stereo system.

Selling Your Own Videos On Cam4 (Video)

Stocking a library of videos increases your potential of being a successful Internet personality. Consider your videos a business card, promo content for live shows, gifts, and an additional source of income.

How to Make Your Own Videos

Making a great video isn’t as complicated as it seems. You are ultimately the boss when it comes to the video content and length but here are a few suggestions.

1. How long should they be?
Anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes in length. You risk losing your audience if you go any longer.

2. What kind of videos should I have?
The more videos you make, the more videos fans will want. If you video tape it, they will cum. Record everything from PG13 all the way to XXX, your fans want to see every one of your good sides.

3. How do I start?
Make the videos about things YOU really like to do. The whole reason amateur webcam is so popular is because it’s NOT scripted a la traditional porn. Viewers want to see something honest, raw, even humorous.

4. Should I include music?
Refrain from having music in your videos. I know this sounds weird but it can be a big distraction for the viewer, they want to hear you and only you.

5. How detailed should it be?
Videos are meant to play on people’s fantasies so the more detail you put into your set and wardrobe the better. You don’t have to spend a lot, just get creative.

6. What if they upload my video somewhere else?
Watermark your videos! Watermarks make it difficult of r your videos it makes it difficult to upload them elsewhere. If you do find them somewhere, your watermark makes them extremely easy to remove so you can feel safe sending or sharing them with fans.

7. Should I watch my videos before sending them?
Watching your videos can be awkward but oh so necessary. If you have ever wanted to improve as a performer this is the fastest way to do it! You may see a few flaws but more importantly you see what you are doing right! After a while you will really start to enjoy watching yourself.

Moderating Your Chat Room

CAM4 offers broadcasters, moderators, and chat members options to make their experience safer and more fun. Here’s a rundown of how each chat function works, and how to use it.

To access your moderation tools click on the 3 dots seen on the right hand side of a username, or go to your user list and right click on a name.

FEATURES
Add note

This little tool lets you keep a file on the viewers in your room for future use. You can even color code them as blue or red!

Ignore

This will stop you from seeing someones chat in the room but only you, everyone else will be able to see their chat. This function is better suited for viewers to ignore each other, performers should use silence instead.

Assign as moderator

You have the power to choose a helper in your shows. This person will be able to do some of your dirty work for you like banning and silencing negative people. This is a big responsibility though so make sure you communicate how you want your room run to your moderator so everything runs smoothly.

Silencing

This will completely silence the user  in the room, no one will be able to see their chat. A silence stays on a user till you remove it from your ‘Manage Silences’ list that is under the little gear icon in the top right hand corner.  Use this option if there’s someone abusing other members, has a negative attitude, spammers, or beggars.

 Kicking

When you kick someone out of your room they ca come right back in so this tool is best to get control of a situation if you need to. For example, two of your viewers are having an argument so you kick both of them out as a wake up call.

Banning

Only ban a user if no lesser functions have worked, and they’re still being abusive to your or your guests. Banning users shouldn’t be a first option for abusive chat members. Once you ban someone, they can’t come back into your room until you remove the ban. There’s no full site ban function.

Remember! It’s your room, your rules! Everyone is here to have fun, so don’t be afraid to use these tools if someone is bringing your room down.

Three Types of Bans on Cam4

banned
Learn about the types of bans used on Cam4 to keep the community inviting and safe for every member – and what you can do to ensure that you’re playing by the rules.

Our administrators and automated programs monitor the entire site at all times to protect members from scammers, spammers and illegal activity. Administrators can ban the accounts of offenders when they find violations – keeping Cam4 safe and free from abuse for the vast majority of members who just want to have fun!

Types of Bans on Cam4

1. Administrator Site Ban

Cam4 administrators will ban your account from the site completely for illegal activity and violating Cam4’s Terms & Conditions. Underage users, URL spammers, scammers and members who use video capture software are subjected to site bans.

Administrators may also ban members after repeated warnings for other offences, such as playing videos or using still images.

These bans are complete site bans, and banned accounts will not be able to access the site again.

2. Broadcaster Bans

Performers have control over their room and are free to ban anyone from watching their cam. Usually viewers are only banned from a performer’s room for abusive behavior – so stay friendly to keep watching!

Broadcaster Bans only apply to the room of the performer that banned you – you are free to find another cam to watch and chat in.

3. Chat Bans
Cam4 uses an automated point system to limit abuse in chat. Entering rooms and watching cams gives you positive points, while being banned by broadcasters gives you negative points. If your points drop too low due to multiple Broadcaster Bans, your account is automatically restricted from using chat. You can still watch cams, but chat features are turned off until you earn enough positive points to reverse the chat ban.

Keep Cam4 Fun!

Remember, bans are used to keep the Cam4 Community safe from abuse, illegal activity, and annoying spammers – they are never taken lightly. If you, like most of the incredible Cam4 Community, are here to have some fun, watch some cams, and meet some amazing people from around the world, then you have nothing to worry about!

If you feel you’ve been banned by mistake, please contact Customer Support.

Internet & Webcam Basics

Your Internet connection is the first and most important thing you need to be a successful Internet personality.

A high-speed connection is a must – but other things factor in.

Things to consider when choosing the right connection include:

Downstream Bandwidth – This is the amount of Internet bandwidth coming from your computer. This is not important when broadcasting on your webcam.

Upstream Bandwidth – This is the amount of bandwidth you have going from your computer to the Internet. You should always test your current upload speed before broadcasting.

Test your speeds here: www.speedtest.net

– A low quality stream can be done on as little as 600 – 800kbps upload speed.
– For a medium quality stream, a 1.5Mbps upload speed is required
– For higher quality HD streams, you’ll want upload speeds of 4Mbps or higher.

We recommend not using more than 50% of your bandwidth to broadcast.

This means that you should use a webcam that is compatible with your available bandwidth and  computer if you have a limited amount of bandwidth.

Follow these steps to find the right combination:

1. Check your computer hardware (RAM, hard drive space, Ghz, operating system)
2. Check your upload bandwidth on www.speedtest.net
3. Look for webcams with basic requirements that are just below your computer and bandwidth capability.
4. Install the appropriate driver for your webcam (most come with a disk included).
5. Broadcast!

Latency – This is the amount of time it takes for your broadcast to reach its destination. Latency problems are often caused by network congestion; if you experience problems with lagging, try to fix the problem by clearing up your connection:

– Clear your browser and flash player history, and clear your cookies.
– Clear all your pending friend requests on CAM4.
– Shut down all unnecessary running programs.
– Refreshing your screen or start a new broadcast.
-Restart your router if you’re still experiencing issues.

Connection Troubleshooting

If you are using your laptop to broadcast, it is likely there are multiple Wi-Fi modems or cordless home phones around that can interrupt your connection. It is best to hardwire your computer (the thing that looks like a phone cord that you plug into your modem and laptop) to your modem or router. This will give you the best connection and prevent your video from being slow or dropping all the time.

Changing the password to your connection is another option; this prevents others who live around you from piggybacking on your Wi-Fi and slowing your connection. Even if no one is using your signal, changing the password almost acts as a refresh for your connection.

Check that your anti-virus software is not actively scanning your hard drive and taking computer memory and resources away from your video; this is also true of streaming music from sites like Pandora and YouTube.

Webcam Fundamentals

As a performer you will be confronted with a lot of new equipment and terms, some of which may be new to you. Whether you are using your Built-in Camera, I.P. Camera, or USB Camera, these are some terms you will become familiar with.

Webcam Driver is the software that lets your computer “talk” to your USB webcam.

Frame Rate (fps) is the frames per second that your webcam broadcasts in – the more frames per second the more fluid your broadcast. You may find that cams with 1080p have a lower quality video quality than 720p at 30fps because your webcam and computer have more information to process per second at the higher aspect ratio and frame rate.

Aspect Ratio of Webcams

Resolution – The image quality of webcams is determined by the amount of pixels per frame. 720p and 1080p HD cams are high quality because of their “p” (progressive scanning), they progressively scan a high number of pixels on screen every 1/60 of a second. Webcams that have this aspect ratio are widescreen view. 720p = 1Mp

Megapixels (Mp) – While the Mp count is still associated with image quality, webcams that are described in Mp’s have a more standard frame aspect ratio. This means the picture is as tall as it is wide. Webcams with high Mp may not be necessary, as pixels tend to be wasted after 2Mp when broadcasting.

You can use a Digital Camera or Video Camera as a Webcam

A little known fact is that you can use a video camera, and some digital cameras, as a webcam. The high FPS and dynamic color pixel sensors in these cameras will make you look incredibly smooth and clear, and most of these cams have a remote that you can control the zoom feature while you are broadcasting.

You will have to do a speed test and a little research about your camera to determine whether your computer meets the requirements it needs to be used as a webcam.

Lighting for your Webcam

Lighting can dramatically affect the resolution, clarity, color, and frame rate of your broadcast stream. Most issues with your webcam come from poor lighting and are easily fixed.

Poor lighting may cause the following problems:

– Dim Image – having a bright light positioned behind you, such as a lamp or a window, causes your image to be dimmed. Position your camera so that all the light is behind the camera lens. You should never see the source of your light in your broadcast image.

– Skewed Color – webcams use a low number of color pixels per frame, so they need to be white balanced to produce a color corrected image. Using white in your room décor lets your camera do this properly – you can also hold up a piece of white paper and let it focus to calibrate the color.

– Dark Background – having your computer monitor brightness set high adds light pollution to your image and causes your background to appear dark. Simply turning down the brightness of your monitor will correct this and improve color quality.

– Grainy Video – this is usually due to insufficient light in your room; webcams compensate for a lack of light by adjusting their sensitivity, which creates more grain or “noise” in the image. Adding more light will quickly fix this problem.

–  Choppy Video – pixels in your webcam capture light through the lens and send that information to your computer in the form of an image – the amount of light can affect the amount of information sent. If your light results in having too little information (low light) or too much information (bright light) or inconsistent information (fluctuating light) then it will change the frames per second resulting in a choppy feed.

Overexposed Image – directional lighting will cause you to look very pale and washed out. It can also create large dark shadows in your image. A good rule to follow is no bare bulbs on bare skin. Turn your lights around so they reflect off a wall then onto you, or use something to “soft box” your light.

Tip Goals

In this article, you’ll learn how to set your Tip Goal!

Setting a tipping goal is a great way to encourage viewers to tip you. With a tip goal, you make it clear to your viewers that you will reward them if they tip you sufficiently.

We’ll also give you a guideline on what to charge and some nice tips on how to actually reach your tip goal.

Types of Tip Goals

There are few different ways that successful cam models set goals on CAM4.

1. One Big Goal

You can set your main goal all at once, right from the start of the show. This can be a bit intimidating for viewers, especially if your show just started and the goal is still far away.

If you set your goal this way, I recommend playing a game in your room to encourage fans to tip. This way you will get closer to the goal step by step.

2. Smaller Goals

You can break up your goal into smaller increments. For example, if you have a personal goal of 1000 for the day, break it up into 10 smaller goals of 100. This keeps you going the whole time and it will keep your fans interested. This is much less intimidating for fans!

3. Tipping Menu

Activate your Tipping Menu to create more ways for your viewers to interact with you.

Once you click on ‘Tip Menu’ in the menu below your video display, you will see a pop-up.

Here you can enter the actions you will perform once a tip goal is reached:

You can submit up to 12 custom actions for your audience to choose from setting your price high or low, depending on the act you will be performing.

Whichever way you choose, remember not to fiddle with your tip goal once it’s set! Changing your tip goal won’t earn more tips, only you and your show can do that.

Tips & Encouragement

Here are some tips by successful performers to make it attractive for viewers to tip you!

twohotguys69-cam4

How to get your room going:

  • Move your webcam angle! This automatically makes viewers ‘tune in’ and gives a feeling of ‘whats happening next?’. Do this regularly to keep audience attention peeked.
  • Make an unexpected change! This could be anything from brushing your teeth, to changing your outfit, to doing the dishes. More random the better 🙂
  • Entertain yourself! The more fun you’re having, the more fun you are to watch. Online hours are long, so fill your room with fun stuff to do!
  • Play games with your room. (Truth or Dare is one of my favorites)

How To Know What To Charge

  1. Add up all your monthly expenses (bills, food, rent, etc…), then double that number. That’s a good monthly earnings goal to start. You can always aim for more 😉
  2. Divide that by the number of days you’re going to cam. Now you have your daily goal.
  3. Break this number in two, three, or four smaller show goals. Whatever feels right to you.

Use tipping games like Roll-the-dice for flashes to keep your text box free for show descriptions.

  • 10 tokens is a pretty standard price per roll
  • 5 tokens is often used to get viewers really active in the game.

TIP!

The dollar-shaped icon indicates viewers in your room who have tokens available in their CAM4 account.

If the user is a gold member or is a member of your FanClub this icon will not be present next to his username (even if the user has tokens).

**Once you have chosen your tip or flash goal, don’t change it. Changing your goals all the time tells fans that you are not confident in your show – and that will make them feel the same way.
